NEW RELEASE: HUMAN RIGHTS REPORTS TÜRKİYE – FEBRUARY 2026

Stichting Justice Square officially submits its latest comprehensive report, documenting the alarming and escalating pattern of human rights violations in Türkiye as of early 2026.

This report serves as a critical update for the international community, highlighting a decade-long trend of systematic persecution that has only intensified in recent months. We aim to bring these grave breaches of international law to the forefront of global human rights advocacy.

Key Insights from the February 2026 Report:

Systematic Persecution: The document details the persistent crackdown on individuals associated—or perceived to be associated—with the Gülen Movement. This relies on an abusive interpretation of anti-terror legislation that has been condemned globally.

Political Crackdowns: We highlight recent, politically motivated actions targeting opposition figures, including elected mayors from the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and peaceful protesters, signaling a wider assault on democratic pluralism.

The “Civil Death” Phenomenon: The report analyzes the wholesale exclusion of hundreds of thousands of citizens from civic, economic, and social life—a profound violation of the principles enshrined in international human rights law.

Crimes Against Humanity: In alignment with findings from the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, our report reiterates that these systematic actions may cross the threshold into crimes against humanity.

“Despite repeated warnings from the international community, the current administration continues a policy of total eradication against perceived threats, leading to what can only be described as a state of permanent repression.”

Standing for Justice

At Justice Square, we believe that documenting these atrocities is the first step toward accountability. We urge international NGOs, government authorities, and human rights defenders to utilize this report to advocate for the restoration of the rule of law in Türkiye.
