📢 2024 Update: Legal and Human Rights Developments for Gülen-Related Cases in Türkiye

We are pleased to announce the release of our latest legal analysis: “2024 Update: Developments in Gülen-Related Cases in Türkiye – An Overview for Legal Experts.”

This report provides an in-depth examination of the legal and human rights situation in Türkiye concerning individuals associated with the Gülen Movement. It highlights key developments, including the evolving asylum policies in the Netherlands and the challenges asylum seekers currently face.

The findings presented in our report are consistent with the assessment outlined in the February 2025 country report published by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also acknowledges the ongoing risks for individuals perceived to be affiliated with the Gülen Movement. Additionally, this report explores the legal and procedural implications of recent policy shifts and their impact on asylum applications.

At the request of several immigration and asylum lawyers, this report was prepared as an expert analysis in response to the questions posed by the Dutch Council of State to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) and was subsequently submitted to the Council. It also examines the implications of recent rulings by the Dutch Council of State and the risks faced by individuals if deported to Türkiye. Drawing upon court rulings, international human rights reports, and open-source investigations, this comprehensive analysis serves as a vital resource for legal professionals, policymakers, and human rights advocates.
